Few educators embody the global spirit of the Montessori method quite like Prof. Rajendra Gupta. With a career spanning over four decades and two continents, his journey is a testament to the transformative power of authentic Montessori education.
A Foundation of Academic Excellence
Prof. Gupta’s expertise is rooted in a rigorous academic background. After earning his Master of Arts in Education from Century University (New Mexico, USA), he sought the purest forms of Montessori training:
- Pre-primary Montessori Diploma: Obtained from the Indian Montessori Training Courses.
- Advanced Montessori Diploma: Awarded by the prestigious Washington Montessori Institute in D.C.
Four Decades of Classroom Impact
Prof. Gupta doesn’t just teach the theory; he has lived it. His 44-year classroom legacy includes:
- 20 Years in India: Dedicated to foundational pre-primary Montessori education.
- 24 Years in the USA: Specialized in Primary Montessori (Grades 1 through 6), bringing advanced concepts to life for older children.
Training under the legends to training with the legends
Prof Gupta trained in 1953 directly from Mr. Joosten — a legendary figure who were instrumental in establishing the Montessori method in India, and acted as his assistant immediately after passing his own exam. This direct lineage ensures that the training provided at IIMS remains authentic and true to Dr. Montessori’s original vision.
Training the Trainers
Recognized as a “teacher of teachers,” Prof. Gupta spent a decade as a trainer at the Southwest Montessori Training Center in Texas. His influence extended into higher education as an Adjunct Professor at the University of Texas A&I, where he shaped the minds of Master of Education students. He has also graced the halls of the College of St. Scholastica and Chicago Community College as a guest lecturer. He had the role of visiting faculty with multiple universities in the USA.
A Legacy in Print
To ensure the Montessori method is practiced with precision, Prof. Gupta has authored numerous manuals and classroom materials. His published works are essential resources for teachers in the fields of:
- Sciences: Botany, Zoology, and History.
- Core Skills: Language and specialized classroom materials.
