About IIMS
Established in 1998, the Indian Institute for Montessori Studies (IIMS) is proudly affiliated with the Indian Montessori Association.
We hold the historic distinction of being the first institution to offer the Montessori Primary course in India following the departure of Dr. Maria Montessori in 1949. Over the last nearly three decades, we have trained hundreds of passionate Montessori educators and teacher trainers.

Areas of Study
The Montessori Primary classroom bridges deep psychological understanding with a specialized 8-part curriculum. Trainees will master:
- Arithmetic Activities: Moving from concrete math to abstract concepts like algebra, squares, square roots, base systems, fractions, and multiples.
- Geometry: Analyzing shapes by understanding their physical characteristics, precise nomenclature, and mathematical relationships.
- Language: Presenting language as a marvelous human invention—analyzing its components, studying rules, and linking it to the evolution of civilization.
- Geography: Approaching geography as a complex interface of Physics, Chemistry, and Earth Sciences connected deeply to culture and traditions.
- Botany: Mastering nomenclature, classification, functions, and internal structures of various plant parts.
- Zoology: Learning animal morphology, structural functions, and biological classification.
- History: Exploring the timeline of human progress, civilization, and historical nomenclature.
- Arts & Crafts: Integrated seamlessly across all subjects rather than taught in isolation, helping trainees appreciate creative expression in every lesson.
