Primary Montessori Education at IIMS

While Pre-primary education focuses on the individual, the Montessori Primary Diploma is designed for the child’s transition into a “social being”. This program equips teachers to help students explore the world beyond themselves and understand their place in the vast universe.+2

1. Education as a “Cosmic” Journey

At the Primary level, the curriculum shifts toward Cosmic Education.

  • Interconnectedness: Trainees learn to use specialized materials that help children see Nature as a delicate web of interrelationships.
  • Integrated Disciplines: Traditional subjects are not taught in isolation but as “cultural gifts” from previous generations, presented in an integrated, cohesive way.
  • Social Freedom: The environment is designed to foster “self-controlled freedom,” allowing children to grow socially without artificial restraints.

2. Advanced Areas of Study

The MPD program deepens the theoretical and practical understanding of core subjects for the 6–12 age group:

  • Advanced Mathematics: Training moves from basic Arithmetic into Algebra, covering complex concepts like square roots, base systems, and multiples using concrete materials.
  • Linguistic Evolution: Educators learn to present language as a “marvellous invention,” helping children analyze grammar and syntax while linking language to the history of civilization.
  • Scientific Inquiry: Geography is explored as an interface of Physics, Chemistry, and Earth Sciences, while Botany and Zoology transition into complex classification and internal structures.+2
  • History of Humanity: The study begins with the Big Bang and tracks the evolution of life and man through the concept of time.

3. Professional Training Structure

IIMS ensures that every graduate meets rigorous professional standards through a blended learning model.

  • Blended Format: Theoretical lectures and equipment demonstrations are delivered live on Zoom, while practical sessions remain in-person at affiliated centres.+2
  • Hands-on Mastery: Students must practice presentations with original Montessori equipment and create extensive “Presentation Albums” for all curriculum areas.+1
  • Mandatory Requirements: To maintain the integrity of the diploma, a 95% attendance rate is required for all lectures and practice sessions.

4. Admission and Career Path

  • Eligibility: Candidates should be graduates (though experience is considered for non-graduates) and at least 20 years of age.+1
  • Investment: The total course fee consists of a Rs 2,000/- registration fee and a Rs 59,000/- tuition fee.
  • Support: IIMS provides placement assistance upon successful completion of the final theory and practical exams.
