Sundaramma KR is a veteran Montessori educator and the Language Faculty for Elementary Montessori at IIMS. With a career spanning over 25 years, she is a passionate advocate for the Montessori method, viewing it not merely as a pedagogical choice for elite institutions, but as a powerful catalyst for meaningful social change and inclusive learning.

Academic Excellence & Specialized Training

Sundaramma’s instructional approach is uniquely informed by her dual expertise in linguistics and inclusive education.

• Advanced Scholarship: Holds a Master’s degree in Kannada Literature from Mysore University, providing a deep cultural and academic foundation for her language faculty role.
• Specialized Education: Completed a B.Ed in Special Education, allowing her to bridge the gap between traditional teaching models and the diverse developmental needs of the child-centered classroom.

Institutional Leadership & Mentorship

Before joining the IIMS faculty, Sundaramma spent nearly three decades shaping the Montessori landscape through leadership and educator preparation.

• Elementary Coordination: Served as the Montessori Elementary Coordinator for 18 years at Gurukul High School, where she guided the academic and developmental trajectories of both students and staff.
• Teacher Training: For 16 years, she acted as a Training Facilitator, mentoring aspiring educators in the nuances of Elementary Montessori principles and helping them translate theory into effective classroom practice.

Professional Journey & Contributions

Having concluded a fulfilling 26-year tenure at Gurukul High School in 2024, she now focuses her expertise on nurturing the next generation of Montessori professionals at the Institute.
